I have a few TYT 220mhz radios with the D9 (RS232) connection added, so connecting via serial to a controller would be just adding a cable. Looking at a few solutions and wondering if anyone has experience or suggestions.. I have already two 220 antennas that are connected via hardline and are spaced far enough that the 0.6mhz spacing doesn't desense at a relatively low wattage.
Raspberry PI 4 - I can add an ICS Pi-Repeater controller and run OpenRepeater. I cannot find where the Pi-4 is 100% supported and has been used, outside of their $400 8-port, prebuilt solution. Seems that as long as the I/O ports line up correctly with their dual port card, it would work.
I have a dual serial port Dell Wyse thin client. I would LOVE to install something on this that would utilize each serial to connect 1:1 each radio and control them. Some software thus far have been 'simplex' by f6dqm, however this seems to be more of a parrot, or I would need to split open a serial cable and create a sort of 'circuit' to split up the single serial connection.
Ideal would be to have two radios connected via serial on the Wyse, so I don't have to buy much more, and the Wyse is running that allows the typical repeater options: CTCSS tones, basic messaging, basic sounds, maybe an optional messaging capability, and of course being able to advertise my call sign.
Thanks!
