Just looking at the transistor only: it is a quantum device. The technology is radical from tube technology. It's not like it evolved over time. The atom bomb certainly wasn't discovered by scientists as an evolutionary technology. The idea must have been planted. Certainly, once quantum physics was revealed, it's not impossible to believe technology rippled very quickly to integrated circuits and then different substrates and so on. But the original concept had to have been given to us. I also wonder about Tesla. No doubt he was a genius, but seriously, how did he come up with so many radical technologies so quickly?
