Bacteria living under a rock on Mars is extraterrestrial life. We aren't finding that with radio telescopes. There is also the chance that even if we find signals from another intelligent species they could have been extinct for millions of years. Space is vast.

Sometimes I try to imagine the vastness of space and it is just incomprehensible. Those pictures that show the size of the earth compared to the sun, then to Jupiter, then to the next big and the next big thing is incredible.
