Be proud you're a functional alcoholic. I knew someone that was..

Have you tried just not?

Yeah. Clean out a few days every week

Long ago I tried stocking a small room in my basement as a wine cellar. I figured out quickly, if you don’t have FU money it’d never work out.

What was your best selection?

I liked reds.. Tabacco Leather Pepper Also lactose-buttery whites. It’s been so long, I’d have to go look at the current selection to recall specifics. I was a big fan of ipa’s, so bitter was better..

Right on. I like sweet but not too sweet like Moscato. My backup port is a little too sweet too. Really into Malbec at the moment. Maybe I like a dryish sweet? I'm not good at this taste thing

As the saying goes: One drink is too many but a thousand isn't enough.

I come from a proud line of functional drunks. Just stating a fact; it's actually nothing to be proud of. When my grandfather turned 80 he said that if he knew he was going to live this long he would have taken better care of himself. We all nodded in agreement but inside knew that he was destined to be a drunk from the day he took his first sip of whiskey at 14.

He died that year BTW. From gout.

Both me and my dad (quit drinking a year ago, nearly died, now back to his hardworking self), weren't big drinkers till our mid to late 20s. Potheads, etc. Miss drinking with him, but he's a great inspiration, and we are close no matter what. Kinda funny, when I was a late teen started smoking weed, same time he started again after 20 years, and I was the one who caught him...
