Hurt my back recently, and have been taking ibuprofen, so i’m avoiding drinking as much as i used to. I used to pop tums all day long, maybe 10-15 tums/day, but that has largely gone away. Also, a lot less phlegmy.

I wasn’t drinking “a lot” before, maybe 8-10 drinks over a week. now i only have a couple modelos on pub quiz night once a week. I’ve had only maybe 2-3 tums in the last month.

There are many Nortic's that are allergic to capsinthin, a substance that makes nightshades red. I don't know what your genetic make up is, but my fellow Nortic's have all given up red tomatoes, paprika, re bell peppers, red chili , serrontos, etc and all of our gut issues went away. A dozen of us formerly on nightly Zantac, tums, etc etc, have no need anymore to take anything to calm our stomachs down ... It's not the spice level, it's literally the redness.

Downside is when you accidently ingest paprika, you know it (few hrs later). And as Paprika is in everything in the USA from French's yellow mustard, to most chili Verdes (which should be green only), you find many of your favorite foods / restaurants have it, and you can no longer eat there / it.

Paprika is the concentrated dried and crushed red bell pepper, and it is the worse for pain imho. It is in EVERYTHING. Red nightshades are NOT native to the European North, and they all thought they were poisonous for centuries.

i’ve got a mutt mix of french, italian, hungarian but nothing from north euro. hot peppers do not bother my gut, and i use a lot of them. also enjoy tomatoes and have a weird obsession with yellow mustard.
