For anonymity:
Get a wallet. store your pass phrase somewhere absolutely safe (NOT ONLINE).
Buy Bitcoin and load it on the wallet.
ta-dah. There's no real best. I like electrum wallet. As for buying btc, the feds watch cl and fb.. but you can still do small amounts.
Or you can create another wallet, and go use your ID to buy some BTC at a bTC vending machine, then send it through a blender service.
If you dont care about anonymity then just go get a coinbase account and set up your wallet on that. (dont store money on exchanges..)
Coinjoin/wasabi, or whirlpool/samurai only tumblers I would use.

I've been thinking of getting a straw purchaser, paying them cash and just going right from them to my hardware wallet. They will never sell (and thus never pay taxes) because they don't have it and I will have no paper trail.
I don't know how to buy stuff with a hardware wallet though. It seems like you just plug it into a computer and use their software like Trezor Suite.
Nah, just put your wallet on your computer or phone, with a password. Not easy to crack.
Hardware wallets are for ppl with $$$$$. And honestly, they seem like the least secure option in a lot of cases.
I downloaded a wallet for my computer but it's the last place I want to keep money. Well 2nd to last if you count my phone.
