So many "luxury" features on modern vehicles just suck. What I really want is a standard old bumper jack that will lift my car in a couple cranks, a full size spare, and for the chevy truck "nut vent" (i.imgur.com) to come back as standard equipment in all vehicles. I don't want some shitty backup camera. I want a vehicle that can unstick my sack from my legs when it feels like Florida in August outside. Get a flat in summer now a days and your choice is between smelling like ass because those crappy screw jacks are their own workout or being over an hour late waiting for AAA to do it for you. It's just not right what once took 5-10 minutes tops to do now leaves you sitting on the side of the interstate for practically a half hour if you want to do it yourself. Being able to change your cars tire in a reasonable amount of time should be considered a safety feature. Only a matter of time till some asshat politician tries to make changing your own tire illegal.
I can relate. But I wait for AAA nowadays, getting too damn old to mess with it.
Just thought of something else. Is a car that automatically stops to avoid hitting people really the best "safety" feature to have in a ghetto neighborhood. Like did the car ever think maybe I was trying to run that person down b/c their shooting at me? lol
Good point! They just drive up the cost of all cars/trucks with all these 'safety' features to the point now where the average Joe can't even buy a used vehicle without going into deep debt.
BTW, was thinking on that screwdriver/hook thing, too. It would be hard to make that work in real life. The hook would just spin the the drill's chuck under the heavy torque required.
