I agree, so I turn auto updates off (on all my apps). Then when the app no longer functions correctly, I decide if I want to update it. Same with my OS. I turned updates off. It's extremely annoying that it forces updates constantly and always when I'm interacting with it.

I don't mind updating on my desktop (mobile is a WHOLE other story), but as I said, redownloading every patch is NOT intuitive. I admit I'm lazy, but you know what? My home box is my comfy place. I use mint cause it's easy. I like Ubuntu cause PPAs handle downloads and updating. I play on steam and proton cause it works good. I use Brave cause it's not Chrome but works great. I'm TOTALLY open for new tech. But I'm not gonna spend my precious free time tinkering with bullshit on my daily driver.
