Start using Mastodon

Mastodon is a network built with censorship in mind. Eugen Rochko, the creator, keeps a blocklist of many sites he doesn't like "for reasons," as I was told when remarking it was damn near impossible to see some conversations because of these blocks. Many others subscribe to these blocklists. The Mastodon network's coders and people in high places are known to be assholes and say things like "I'm under no obligation to allow you to follow me" when questioned about an issue with the code.

Yeah, I just gave it a shot - it sucks. Mastodon gets fucked in the ass and likes it.

The Pleroma network is a lot smaller, people-wise, than twitter, so if you're expecting a lot of unique eyeballs you may find that isn't the case.

I generally have found there's a set of posters you'll always interact with and a few new ones every now and then. The federated nature sometimes works against the system, it can be hard to find voices of interest because your site may not have the reach that allows you to find those voices.
