animated music video. original definition was cutting clips from japaneese animation to music, but has since expanded to include any cartoon/cgi character (some can get quite bitchy about where the cgi line is for amv vs photo realistic) amv hell was made with the concept of ruining the context/meaning of the clip in the most fucked up/disturbing way possible. a precursor to abridged type videos.
