I often use Grok AI in picking small cap stocks. It doesn't get it right every time but I'm only ever putting in a few hundred bucks at a time into them. For example I bought APLD in May of 2025 for $7.11 per share. I bought 31 shares for 220.41. I sold it on 06/09/26 for $40.79 a share. 473.75% gain. I've had mixed luck with Grok. Sometimes I lose, sometimes I win. But when I lose it's just a couple hundred bucks, when I win I usually at least triple my money.

What prompt do you give it?

Do you simply ask it if the stock is likely to go up, or do you ask for information on the company and its market?

I just ask it to look for low priced stocks with big upside potential and give me a good analysis. It usually returns 3 or 4 results and a pretty good breakdown of its reasoning. Then I look them each up on my own to formulate my own opinion.

I can see how that could work. It has investment articles and forum discussions in its training data. It can hallucinate. The text it’s pulling from could have been written by an idiot or a malicious actor, but it might also show you something good that you can look into.
