Correct. It's statistical matching: it finds the closest statistical match. Yea, if the closest match is wrong, it presents it as fact anyway. You never hear, well I'm not sure, the match isn't statistically close.

Trained by people who never say "I'm not sure," always have an opinion on any topic no matter how uninformed and can never admit they don't know something. It's no surprise their creation has the same "let me tell you my opinion" attitude.

current AI is glorious pattern matching

it should have been called PM, that is what it is

and

we actually cannot define "intelligence"

if stupidity is defined as "doing something harmful for self and others"

intelligence could be ! stupidity

maybe

The real advancement in modern AI is that it can make up bullshit and sound confident enough that someone who doesn't know better will not question the accuracy. AI companies have tricked people into thinking AI is never wrong by making sure it always gives out an answer that makes sense, even if it's completely wrong, and it does so in a very confident way.

LLMs have existed for a long time, but modern AI decided to not care at all about what they scrape or if they have rights to use it. Nvidia had no problem scraping all the pirated books from Anna's Archive. OpenAI is constantly settling with IP holders. The end result is also a ton of garbage. Imagine sitting a child in front of the internet unrestricted and telling it to learn everything it sees and never question any of it. That is modern AI.

All I know for certain is that orcas and crows are more intelligent than niggers.

I've tried it for some of the stuff I work with, just to see what it does. I wonder how long it's going to take someone to raise a lawsuit because someone died of improperly using equipment.
