I think this first showed up over a year ago when ChatGPT was pre‐prompted to be a sycophant to make it more user friendly. It started praising users and agreeing with everything they said.
These people were stupid and psychotic to begin with. Talking to a sycophant LLM just helped them amplify their delusions and stupidity. Any honest person who knew one of them for years would tell you they were always a little off.

Seriously, I think most people are close to the edge of derangement. All it takes is a small nudge. We saw this during COVID a lot. People we thought were normal, turned out... well, completely unhinged.
