We've been letting computer software route chips for a long time now. Remember seeing some computer-designed die back in the 80s, and it was like layers of silt in a riverbed instead of a nice clean geometrical layout. Can't remember what publication that was in, just that the designer was both annoyed and amazed at how it looked.
