Cookie clicker is definitely the genre definer. In my opinion, not a good game. But then I really don't like incrementals. Only exception is universal paperclip.
Good storyline plus the mechanics changes throughout the game make it worthwhile. Also it's not too long. There are some incremental games out there that literally take years to complete.
