If by real jeep you mean, body on frame and not unibody. Maybe... However the XJ can flex harder and and go farther because they are not limited by a frame...

Huh. I didn't know that. I was mainly just shit posting but have a high five. I don't know much about Jeeps honestly except the fact that every soccer mom used to have a Cherokee 15 years ago.

every soccer mom

Soccer moms had Jeep Grand Cherokee's. More luxury and not as good off-road as the Jeep Cherokee. Grands are designated WJ, Cherokee XJ, Wrangle YJ. AT least in the 90's.

The Jeep Cherokee was such a great seller for Jeep. They changed very little from 1984-2001. Only going through 2 body generations.

One of the best engines ever made. The AMC 4.0 Inline Six Cylinder. Was an option in every Jeep. Most XJ's got that motor. Chrysler discontinued the greatest engines ever. For one reason. Federal Emissions. Even though the 4.0 engine was bullet proof, rarely broke, goes 400k miles +. (Everything you want when off-roading miles from no where.) Was not fuel efficient. Seeing how it was an engine design from the 60's. Now wranglers have minivan v6s.

You're right. I wasn't aware of the difference between the Grand Cherokee and the Cherokee. Thanks for taking the time to explain it.

I wrote off Chrysler when my parents had a beige minivan around 1992 or maybe it was 1995 (those tacky fuckers with the fake wood paneling) and it went through 2 trannys within 5 years.
