Articles suggest between $500-700 depending on the kit just for the addon.

Every time I think it's time to upgrade something even better comes along. Think I'll wait awhile.

It's like Solar. I was thinking about an array a few years back but the math basically said that if I built something that would take around 10 years to pay itself off that in 10 years the array would be so much better that it would pay itself off in 5 so what was the point of buying a older design that eventually needs upgrading and would take the same or more time to pay off?

Why do you think I am printing on a really old extremely modified printer? I gets the job done (mostly) but I don't feel like dropping the cash on something while I am seeing so many advancements so fast. Though, after I have a new place with proper room I will probably still buy something new anyway. I want a much larger format printer, I am working on a modification (again) to improve my Z space and make it more rigid. It helps me understand it better even if newer printers are not as modable.

I have been looking at industrial printers on various marketplaces to see if I can somehow pick one up since they are still way ahead of a lot of the basic consumer stuff for some very specific applications and they are getting old enough people are replacing/upgrading. I really want to build something that can do metal though. Rocket engines look fun. Very, Very, fun. I am going to need a very big barn though.

Ha!!! I love that ambition!! I'm making mostly toys for my grandkids lately. All my hunting seasons are done now though. Hopefully I'll get a new project going soon.

You math was off. every time I math it, if the power company don’t buy anything back, it is about a 30-40 year payback, at which point the cells are fogged and worthless.
