Just get an Arduino, some stepper motors and drivers and write a small program to randomly rotate the steppers at different speeds and directions. No need to make plastic waste just for the sounds.

Probably PLA, it's cheap and biodegradable. Sometimes I make stuff out of PLA even that I am using outside just for that reason, I don't need my plastic shit polluting the world for 2 centuries.

Dayum. So simple. Why didn't I think of that? I was told that the machines must run as long as possible in order for them to: Make machine move. ??? Profit!

And if you want more than just background noise, you could make music too.

You need to do what this guy did

Must admit I kind of skipped to the end where the actual piano action is happening, but man that's some dedication. Thanks, hadn't seen this one.

lol, seems a bit wasteful. You need to make toys for kids. I do a lot of that.

Ok, just on the off chance it wasn't obvious: It's an actually useful project. It just happened to make neat noises because of the large radii.

It did seem to be a bit complicated just for a time waster.

It's a stencil of sorts. For positioning round things at the optimal distance to each other in a tray. Made up of 4 identical parts that are going to be glued together, because at 360 by 260 mm, it's too large for even my largest printer. If the concept works out, I might make a proper(er) version with puzzle-piece like connectors.
