There certainly is a lot of potential in this idea of reinforcement/selective filling. I'd really like to explore these things myself but my 3D printer has been dormant for over 2 years now and is rather outdated by today's standards (Anycubic Predator delta printer). I don't really have the desire to drop a few grand on a new multi-material/AMS printer, but it would be interesting to work on these challenges. For now my money sink is still music studio gear so 3D printing will have to stay in the background again.
I am still using my Maker Select V2 from monoprice (a Decade or more old at this point). I did print something today I plan to upload some videos of tomorrow. I have modified it so it won't burn the house down and I use octo-print to run it. You can do a lot with old hardware it just takes a lot more effort.
