I have some of these little threaded things. I have not had time to work on the project I bought them for but I intend to also build a 3d-printed rig that holds a fire-starter soldering iron so the heated tip the thread inserts come with can be used sort of like a press when heated to insert them into the print.

From the post:

>Adding threads to your 3D prints is a life-changing feature, but obviously there are a lot of trade-offs and considerations when deciding on how to go about this exactly. Between self-tapping screws, printed threads, heat inserts and a dozen other options it can be tough to decide what to go with. In a recent video [Thomas Sanladerer] runs through a few of these options, including some less common ones, and what he personally thinks of them.

This is cool. I've added some threads in my cad work but it is always kinda hit and miss. I want to try the heated insert type.

I bought these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08K1BVGN9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The screw kit: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BB1FJJKC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8 This for the soldering iron: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08B17VQLD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This or something like it is what I intend to print to insert them. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6466320

If you get around to it before me, post pics and let me know how it turned out.
