Dude, you really REALLY need to consider getting a P1S. It will change your world on 3D Printing. Spring for the AMS unit too. You're not loosing, you will immediately be winning!!!!
I figured it out. It is absolutely the filament. My older filament works just fine. The new stuff is PLA "plus" or something. It has different properties and apparently is designed to work with printers that don't have a hot-bed. I figured something like that was in play when I was looking at how the print's were going.
Ill make a post about this sometime in the next few days to show the difference. Maybe if I have enough time ill try to do a reprint using the "new" filament with the hot-bed at very low if not heated at all to see if it changes things.
As a result, I have ordered a few different filaments from the same company that I usually use (hatchbox) to see how they handle a similar print.
I took a little bit of video on it too since sometimes its easier to show the issue rather than just a pic or two.
[Edit] Yeah, Eventually I will upgrade but I still have something that works even if I have to beat it into submission sometimes. I just learn more then. If I get something new I will just know/understand even more if it is not working "properly".
I also said I will make another post on what I have done. This thing is far from "stock", custom firmware, hardware mods, etc... When/If I get rid of it I think I will need to provide some extensive documentation x.x
That's why I waited to get a 3D printer until now. Up until recently the hobby has pretty much been about the machine. Mods, software, acceleration speed, getting it to work, keeping it working.
I just don't have the time or desire for all that. I want to make functional things. Now the technology has finally gotten to where I have been waiting for it to get. My printer just works. I'm sure an issue will arise occasionally, but for the most part it will be just some maintenance or something and it will go back to just working.
I thought I had you finally talked into it!!
Funny thing, I had waited a "long time" to get a printer too. It was on a different scale though, I was in on the early stuff and really wanted one but waited years to get one and still ended up with what I have now and have made it work.
Think about it this way. Because of stubborn bastards like me, you have "easy mode" now. I still live in not-so-easy mode and I chose to do that. Not like I could not buy that nice printer today, I just decide not to... yet.
I am still looking at "metal" printers... I have even spent a lot of time on research and I am considering building one myself anyway. I have some of the gear and stuff to do it already but not the time =/
I do respect your position though. I must just kind of hate myself a bit to fight through this stuff.
I do this with nearly everything. I do not fear a challenge and even if I could do it 'easier' sometimes I want to know the how/why that got there. .
