Check out the Cricut Explore or the Maker machines.
Sister in law has one of those and it seems a nice machine. The only drawback is that It's an older version that won't do spools and they aren't Linux compatible.
I bought one of the new Silhouette machines because I only use Linux, extended family can borrower it for larger prints, and these are supported by inkcut eliminating the need for wine.
Got the whole thing up an running in 5 minutes. (Gentoo linux)
